The World Premiere of ‘Gernika 85.’, the most personal and largest project of the contemporary composer Aitor Etxebarria.
This symphonic work that combines minimalist aesthetics and eccentric landscapes will premiere on June 30 at the Euskalduna Palace. It will be performed by the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra and the Gaudeamus de Gernika choir with the international solo percussionist Evelyn Glennie, winner of two Grammy Awards, and Etxebarria himself on piano and electronic instruments.
In addition, some of the latest recorded testimonies will be screened for the Gernika Peace Museum. The music will be performed along with words from by people who lived that tragic day in the first person as a tribute to Gernika on the 85th anniversary of its bombing.
