Explore listening at Listen Up! A two-week residency with City Lit this May
From 7th to 18th May, The Evelyn Glennie Foundation invites you to experience listening not as a passive act, but as a powerful, inclusive way of relating to sound, to one another, and to the world. Step into a space shaped by vibration, resonance, silence and anticipation — a place where attention deepens and pace slows. In a world full of noise and momentum, Listen Up! offers a rare opportunity to reconsider what listening can truly mean.
The Listen Up! residency with City Lit brings together three core elements, offering different ways to experience listening — as exhibition, as practice, and as shared exploration.
At its heart is the free, public exhibition, open throughout the two weeks. Alongside this, we’re hosting two invitation‑only events: an In‑the‑Round Listening Experience led by Dame Evelyn Glennie with a dedicated performance from City Lit’s Percussion Orchestra, and a Private View giving funders, partners and collaborators a quiet preview of the exhibition and insight into the Foundation’s future direction.

Please note: Evelyn will not be in attendance for the whole of the residency, but will be taking part in two specific events which are both by invite only:
Private View – 7th May 2026, by invitation only
In‑the‑Round Listening Experience – 13th May 2026, by invitation only
