ReConnection with Catrin Finch, at Hidden Notes Vol. 6, Stroud

20th September 2026, St Laurence: Stroud Centre for Peace & the Arts

In ReConnection, composer Jill Jarman brings together two of today’s most distinctive musical voices: pioneering percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie and internationally celebrated harpist Catrin Finch. Conceived in response to the post‑Covid landscape, the work asks a simple but urgent question: how do we find our way back to one another after a time of distance?

Across a sequence of contrasting movements, harp and percussion circle, challenge and embrace one another. Taut, fractured rhythms gradually give way to stillness and flow; moments of tension open into spacious, shimmering textures. The result is a live journey from isolation towards trust, solidarity and a renewed sense of “us”.

Known for her mission to “teach the world to listen”, Glennie’s extraordinary palette of timbres meets Finch’s lyrical, genre‑defying approach to the harp, drawing audiences into an experience that feels both intimate and expansive. ReConnection is more than a concert: it’s an invitation to slow down, listen deeply and imagine what healing, personal and collective, might sound like.

ReConnection is a new musical work by acclaimed composer Jill Jarman, featuring legendary percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie and harp virtuoso Catrin Finch. Inspired by the post-Covid landscape, ReConnection explores personal, societal and environmental divisions, weaving a message of healing and reconnection into every movement.

Dame Evelyn Glennie is the world’s premier solo percussionist. Her solo recordings exceed 40 CDs. A double GRAMMY award winner and BAFTA nominee, Evelyn composes for film, theatre and television. The Evelyn Glennie Podcast was launched in 2020. Evelyn was awarded an OBE in 1993 and has over 100 international awards to date, including the Polar Music Prize, the Léonie Sonning Music Prize and the Companion of Honour. Evelyn is Curator for The Evelyn Glennie Collection. Her iconic film Touch the Sound, TED Talk and charity The Evelyn Glennie Foundation embody her life-long mission to Teach the World to Listen.

Catrin Finch, the “Queen of Harps,” has redefined harp music, blending classical mastery with global traditions from Colombian joropo to Senegalese kora. A former Royal Harpist to the Prince of Wales and child prodigy, she’s performed with John Rutter, Bryn Terfel, and Seckou Keita. Her journey now embraces teaching and bold composition. In ReConnection, composed by Jill Jarman and featuring Finch, Dame Evelyn Glennie, post-pandemic reflection becomes music. Exploring themes of division and healing, each movement invites listeners to contemplate identity, isolation, and hope—shaping a powerful narrative of unity through sound.

A composer and jazz pianist, Jill Jarman’swork seamlessly merges classical and jazz. Described by Swedish Dagbladetas creating “art music with jazz waywardness,” her music is often inspired by diverse cultures, as evidenced in her collaborative piece Echoes from the Birdcage for Dame Evelyn Glennie. Jill’s ethos is rooted in pushing boundaries, incorporating fresh approaches to enhance inclusivity and defy musical convention.
