Composer and multi-instrumentalist Sue Verran has always seen herself as a storyteller first and foremost, so the title of her latest collection for Audio Network makes perfect sense. Together with percussion including hang drum, marimba and mbira from the legendary Dame Evelyn Glennie and production and arrangements from esteemed composer and orchestrator Chris Warner, Immersive Stories more than lives up to its billing, encouraging the listener to get lost in its myriad moods, which extend from brooding and tense to dreamy and mysterious, combining pizzicato strings, hang drum, marimba, and mbira.
