On the 26th of February 2019 Evelyn released a musicality podcast called How to Truly Listen. The recordings were with Musicality Podcast producer, Adam Liette. In this podcast, Evelyn talks about three main topics with the focus around listening. Evelyn examines how both sound and music can transform both our lives and the lives of others around us.

Evelyn starts off the podcast by revealing how her very first percussion teacher introduced her to instruments. Initially, Evelyn struggled with the theory behind music and could not find a softer approach to learn this. As a result, Evelyn’s percussion teacher sent her home with a snare drum with no sticks or stand. Evelyn gradually began to tap, hit, and tickle the drum. Testing out how it resonated differently on a range of surfaces. Evelyn began to experiment and understand that sound is also a form of touch. She had learned how to connect intimately and instinctively with instruments. She then goes on to discuss why musicians who are very good at “musical listening” in practical ways can actually lose sight of a far more fundamental kind of listening.

If you wish to hear more about the topic, the podcast is now available to listen to at Musical-U.com
